Paris Global Climate Financing Summit: In recent years, climate change has become a pressing issue that the world needs to address urgently. However, the battle against climate change is not fought on an equal footing. Developing countries, facing challenges such as poverty, escalating debt levels, and inflation, often lack the financial resources required to undertake significant climate action. This is where climate finance steps in, providing the necessary funding to support both mitigation (reducing or preventing greenhouse gas emissions) and adaptation (making adjustments in systems in response to actual or expected climate change) efforts.
The Summit for a New Global Financing Pact, recently held in Paris, aimed to address this shortfall of financial support for developing countries in tackling climate change.
